L-5 Sentinel & owner captured by Df / 24-70f2.8 Profoto B1

It all began at Osh. Jake had reached out and made friends with Chris. Jake thought he and his plane, a WWII Iwo Jima vet L-5 Sentinel and Chris would be of interest to me. Jake made the introductions and to this day, thirteen years later we’re still dear friends. That year at Osh we did an A2A and man, was that a challenge I will never forget. And results I still love but that’s another story.

On this evening at Cable the winds were blowing and the storm was ripping across the skies (yes, that’s a B-25 and A36 in the background). We pushed the L-5 out on the ramp and positioned it on the ramp. The wind was picking up the wings and while I was concerned, Chris was only concerned about being in front of the camera. He was not comfortable at first. With Sharon being a human anchor keeping the Profoto B1 from launching into the taxi way, the storm broke. Los Angeles smog worked its sunset magic and I went click. It all came from just showing up at Osh. It’s all about the people more than planes to me, Osh relationships.
