Porterfield CP-65 captured by D5 / 70-200f4
We flew to IA commercially, my three friends flew in their Porterfields and they had a whole lot more challenges and fun than we. The Porterfield is a WWII era aircraft with the CP-65 having just a 65hp engine. Getting over the Rockies in route from CA to IA was a helluva chore and quite the airmanship for the three pilots. There are very few Porterfields flying so they are little known and even less loved. How unloved? I couldn’t even get an article about the flight published, no interest. The three, seventy year old planes made it all the way east and then back home again without any issues. There are the little plane that could!
