Norseman C-64 captured by Z 9 / 180-400VR
I had no clue what I was looking at in the viewfinder. On a grass strip, as planes arrived for the flyin, this large yellow plane really stood out. Jake was standing next to me and I asked him what kinda plane that was. He didn’t know and luckily for us, our host was standing behind us, heard the question, and said, “It’s a Norseman!”
This 1935 Canadian built Noorduyn Norseman also known as the Normseman C-64 was built to operate from unimproved surfaces. Notice its distinctive stubby landing gear making it easily recognizable. Many were used in Canada as an air ambulance because of its ability to land just about anywhere. Like right before us on the grass strip. It has so grabbed my imagination I’m hoping to see it in Canada later this year in the sky. It’s why I love just showing up, surprises, new, learn, all good stuff!
