Monocoupe 110 captured by D5 / 24-70f2.8
I love Monocoupes! I photograph them at every opportunity and have written numerous articles about them. Their history, their look, and their appeal simply suck me in. Years back I was present when this one had just come out of restoration, freshly painted, and was being ferried to its new home airport. I was excited by the possibilities as it would be one I could spend lots of time with developing more images, more stories. Then, as it often happens, the plane was gone. Well, not gone gone but rather no longer where I had access. The new owner while loving the Monocoupe for the same reasons and I did and some more, it wasn’t a good fit for them as a pilot so it found a new home. If you’re a photographer, you know the feeling. You buy that body or lens thinking it was perfect but then after a short time, you realize it’s just not a good fit. That’s what happened here and my plans, well, they once again changed and advanced. It’s really kinda common with time with a plane, it can be fleeting!
