The longs rays of fall produces a romantic light that is hard to duplicate any other time of the year. When I see that light I think of two subjects, mammals, big game in particular and planes on the ramp. My #1 tip to aviation photographers is Just Show Up! And this is the perfect example because if you arrive at an airport before sunset, it is obvious you’re not there for a ride or even a handout. Rather, you’re there with your camera for the sheer joy and romance of the plane on the ramp. It takes a photographer with heart to do this and it shows and that in itself will gain you access. And of course the photograph will turn out gorgeous cause you’re using the long light of fall.
