Interstate Cadet captured by D5 / 200-400VR2

What we have here is a very cool piece of history! Above John Rodgers airport, a lone Interstate Cadet S-4A was doing pattern work. Cornelia Fort was giving her student a few final points before his intended solo later in the morning when something caught her eye. Inbound from the Pacific Ocean Fort saw several aircraft which she thought at first were P-40 Tomahawks. Just then, she noticed her student was on a collision heading. This plane and its occupants were witnesses to history, the attack on Pearl Harbor that fateful morning. I knew the owner of the plane at the time of the photograph, but not the history of the plane. And once I learned, he had already sold it. History, it is fleeting.
