Long before the sun starts its rise, the hangar doors are opened and the tug is moving planes. Arranging the aircraft for the morning’s shoot is half the fun of photographing them. For me, I can’t wait for the first hint of light cause I know what’s coming. In the desert when the sun is just wiping the sleep from its eyes, the pinks, purples, and maroons line up just above the last darkness of the night. It’s a glow that rims everything especially planes on the ramp. It’s just a magical moment and with the camera on my foot, it’s an aww … f1.2 and predawn.
