Waco Super Sport captured by Z 9 / Z100-400
The evening before was pure magic! The sunset photo mission with the Waco Super Sport and Curtis Speedwing was spectacular introducing me to two classic aircraft from the Golden Era. The next morning before the sun caught up with me, I was out admiring and photographing the Super Sport. Only twelve were ever made, two of which were for civilian use. This is the only survivor. I knew nothing of it and wanted to learn more. The sun just kissed the canopy when I heard a voice behind me. “She’s gorgeous, isn’t she?” It was the owner of the aircraft who I’d briefly met the night before. We soon got to talking about the Waco and then he said, “Want to go flying?” Ten minutes later we were over the valley as the sun just kissed the landscape below. “Want to fly her?” For the next half an hour I had the stick as we flew, talked, laughed, and simply enjoyed flying. It was amazing! I will always treasure that time, stepping back in time, today.
