Staggerwing D17S captured by Z 8 / Z400f4.5
Just look at that profile, what a gorgeous plane! When Walter Beech, the founder of Beech Aircraft, came up with a design meant to be fast, easy to fly and able to move businessmen around the country easily. First flying in 1933, their production went past WWII to conclude in 1949. During that time, a number of variants and modifications can be seen in the seven hundred plus manufactured. They are not “rare” in that there about two hundred still flying but seeing them is a rare sighting. I’ve yet to have the good fortune to do an A2A with one and hoping that 2025 will break that fact. I’d love to be in the sky next to one, simply a staggering cool design!
