A-26 captured by D3x / 24-70f2.8

At the time (2012) the A-26 was airworthy, but the owners didn’t want it flown because it would put time on the props, and they were brand new. I never understood the luck, just that the only photograph I would ever get of it was pulled out on the ramp (it lives tucked into the back corner of the museum). This WWII / Korea bomber saw a lot of action in civilian life as a fire bomber, which is where I first became aware of it. Then Kermit Weeks asked me to photo survey his A-26 back in 2014. A spectacular aircraft in restoration with an operational rear gun turret with all the other bells and whistles. It’s still not completed so my dreams of flying alongside one have still not come to light. But as of last week, an A-26 flew into MSO and will be flying a whole bunch next season. I had forgotten my dream of being in the air with one, but now it might come true. How time flies!
