TBM Avenger captured by D3x / 70-200f2.8
TBM stands for torpedo bomber and M for General Motors built. It’s a multi-purpose aircraft used to drop the Mark 13 torpedo or 2000lbs of bombs. This would bring the “Turkey” up to 18,000lbs! It got its nickname of Turkey not because of its appearance but rather its “waddle” as it taxied. This is the aircraft President George Bush #41 flew in WWII. The 41 on the cowling is in his honor.
