4e Speedmail captured by D5 / 180-400VR
The sun sets a whole lot earlier in the winter, which limits flying for some. Older planes like this Stearman 4e Speedmail is not equipped with lights for flying at night. Some pilots don’t have their rating to fly at night. This makes some cool opportunities if you work it right. Pilots love to fly, and with these limitations from the light, they squeeze in all the flying they can to the last second. As a photographer, if you’re anywhere near the airport, you have the gorgeous, low-level light of winter with a number of aircraft landing. It’s an ideal way to make the most of winter’s fleeting light.
