Air-to-air is done under VFR, Visual Flight Rule. IFR, Instrument Flight Rule, is for those times when you can’t see while flying, generally in clouds. It is not only not safe to attempt A2A when it’s IFR, if you do (and live to talk about it), all you’ll have are photos of fog. So how then do photos like that above come to be? You simply place the clouds in the background and use a longer lens, in this case 200mm, and make it appear you’re flying in the clouds. You know you won’t be shooting if the pilot tells you, it’s IFR.
